For this WordPress based weblog I decided to experiment with designing an all CSS and table-free web site. As some of you may know, all the cool kids scoff at the use of tables in web site design. The CSS snobs would have you believe that there is an unadulterated land where all matter of standards, browsers, and web content fall in line to the mighty power of CSS. Bullshit. For me, at least, the CSS-only site is just as unreliable, kludgey, ugly in markup, and generally a pain to code as any evil sliced table monster. Box hacks, floater div bugs, hiding CSS through browsers quirks, and so on, it's a lot to manage. Granted, I'm no web designer (still trying to get the site to validate), but it seems the answer lies in the middle, using both CSS and tables.
