Remember when you thought Ben Affleck was a decent actor? You're thinking of the film CHASING AMY, director Kevin Smith's follow-up to his disappointing sophomore effort MALLRATS. To improve things for his third movie, he pulls out the tride and true topic of lesbians - but in a surprisingly well-written story.

Kevin Smith burst on to the scene with this low-budget black and white indie film, released by Miramax, back when Miramax made independent films. Clued many into what the term "snowballing" means. The script is the king and is the main reason of the film's success. Nooge.

Nice DVD set of the animated series Kevin Smith created for the ABC television network. It was abruptly cancelled after two episodes - but all six are found on the set. The animation is surprisingly well-drawn, while the writing of the episodes vary in the quality of laughs.

After the shark, but before the warm and fuzzy ET, Steven Speilberg gave us the definitive UFO motion picture. (Sorry ID4.) Captures the mysterious aspects of UFOs long before X-Files - a well made film from beginning to end. Richard Dreyfuss gives his best performance to date.
