JFK
Buy this DVD

Feels more like a documentary of the Kennedy assassination than a fictional drama - the truth of what happened probably lies somewhere between the two. Oliver Stone manages to invoke a lot of drama from a dizzying amount of filmmaking styles - almost too much to take in at times.

Jackie Brown
Buy this DVD

Quentin Tarantino's ode to 70s blaxploitation films is nearly as flashy and ground breaking as his previous PULP FICTION, but JACKIE BROWN is still a worthy followup. Pam Grier pays homage to herself in this tale of the double/triple cross, with a great soundtrack as always.

Jaws
Buy this DVD

This film created the modern "blockbuster" and forever changed the film industry (and beach goers as well). Nothing more than a B-picture monster film, but so well-crafted and made, it elevates the genre to a whole other level. The shark appears extremely fake, but the tension and brilliant filmmaking do not.

Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back
Buy this DVD

Playful final chapter of Kevin Smith's "Jersey Trilogy" is enjoyable from beginning to end - but only if you're a fan of his work and these characters. If the phrase "Snoochie Boochies" doesn't put a smile on your face, then this probably isn't the comedy for you.

Jurassic Park III
Buy this DVD

Not nearly as ground breaking as the first Jurassic Park, or as loud as the second, but still a comfortably fun ride. Spielberg handed over the direction of the film to Joe Johnston, who keeps things moving fast enough (and a surprisingly short running time) so you don't have to think to much.
