Sophomore jinx struck director Kevin Smith with this film. Not nearly as bad as you might think - disappointing is a better word. Still an interesting film for "View Askew" fans, and the DVD extras (including commentary) are always entertaining.

The "sophomore jinx" brings the Matrix series crashing back down to Earth. Expectations ran too high for this sequel to the trend setting Matrix. While the "Freeway Chase" and kung fu were very impressive, the CGI "Burly Brawl" and neo-cyberpunk babble of the script were not.

The Matrix DVD was the first "killer app" of the DVD player launch. It became the must-have DVD and spurred many first-time DVD player purchases. The extra on the disc where a bit thin. Rather than make you buy the same movie over again for new goodies, Warner Bros. released this supplement DVD of extras.

Most influential science fiction film since Blade Runner? Probably. Part of the appeal of this film was that it came out of nowhere and was an unexpected surprise during it's theatrical release. Kung-fu, trend-setting special effects, black latex, what's not to love? "Whoa."

Detective story manages to leave the viewer a case of amensia to match that of the lead character. The reverse chronological story seems a gimmick at first, but the commitment to that premise pays off through the course of the film. Interesting filmmaking to say the least.

Slick update to the original IMF television series. Cruise steps in as agent Ethan Hunt, surrounded by a plot that makes little sense. NOC List anyone? Director Brian DePalma does stage the action scenes well and keeps things moving despite the plot.

Dropping the convoluted plot of the first film, Tom Cruise enlisted action director guru John Woo to ramp up the action. Sometime between films Tom's character learned extreme rock climbing and kung fu. Far from a great action film, but improves on the original.

One of the funniest films of all time. Despite the annoying quoting from countless geeks through the ages, the Python's first theatrical film remains their best. The only flaw in this comedy is the film has no ending whatsoever, and loses steam at that time and peters out.

Considered by some to be a better film than MONTY PYTHON AND THE HOLY GRAIL, and I'm inclined to agree. The film zeros in on all matters of religion for some really wicked satire and comedy - some misinformed souls considered it "blasphemous", which isn't the case when viewed by any sane person.
