After testing out CGI effects in THE ABYSS, director James Cameron ushered in the computer graphics era of filmmaking special effects with the ground-breaking T2. Not as well written as the original, but superior in the realm of action and effects. Robert Patrick as the T-1000 makes for a worthy adversary.

Put James Cameron and Arnold Schwarzeneggar on the blockbuster map. The science fiction story of a futuristic cyborg sent back in time to present day has plenty of concept to spare, with low budget effects that manage to impress. (This wasn't the budget of the million dollar sequel, after all.) Linda Hamilton gives a very sympathetic performance.

One of the most disturbing horror films from beginning to end. Not nearly as gory as the title suggests, but still shocking nonetheless. The 1970s era independant film only adds to the authenticity of the frights. The ending is a bit of a let-down, however. Followed by many needless sequels.

Underrated John Carpenter film which was a remake of the 1951 science fiction horror classic THE THING FROM ANOTHER WORLD. Kurt Russell leads an isolated group of scientists at an arctic research station battling against an alien threat - bolstered by some impressive make-up effects.

One of the laugh-out-loud funniest films in recent years. Interesting blend of tasteless gags and emotional sweetness. Cameron Diaz actually manages to endear herself to just about everyone she comes into contact with, including the audience. Ben Stiller begin a career of playing the "straight man" with this film.

The original "rockumentary", and one of the greatest film comedies of all-time. Part of the culture at this point, which is impressive for a low budget film that feels largely improvised. Spinal Tap released an album and toured years later, further adding to the realism of their rock satire performances.

Before being coined as the campaign slogan for Schwarzenegger, this was a passable sci-fi film from director Paul Verhoven. Some interesting action and effects at the time of release; the film doesn't hold up as well now. (And feels very claustrophobic - the film is composed of only a few sets that all look very similar.)

The film that killed traditional animation. Computer animated tale is perfect in almost every way, from story to characters to the voice talents of Tom Hanks and Tim Allen and more. Invokes smiles in children and adults alike - and that's a rare feat.

Pixar continues its unblemished success of computer animated blockbusters with this TOY STORY sequel. Excellent storytelling and a fresh story angle make this a worthy sequel. The lack of the same level of "gee whiz" as the first film is it's only minor flaw.

Fascinating documentary on the advent of the personal computer revolution, as told by those involved. From Bill Gates to Steve Jobs, all of the guilty parties are discussed here. A bit long, but far superior to other Bob Cringely documentaries as his tremondous ego is kept (mostly) in check.

One of the first films to utilize computer graphics, in this case, literally, as the action takes place inside the computer world. Quaint by todays standards, and some say the film harmed the CG industry as much as it helped it. Still, it invokes a nice 80s film nostalgia.

Trashy lurid thriller that got caught up in the 1990s cliche of the "plot twist" for the sake of having plot twists. Neve Campbell and Denis Richards make for appealing distractions for the rest of the cast, even if the scams and double-cross aren't nearly as clever as they'd like you to believe.
